“The planning and preparation for the trip was intentionally minimal and I set off at the end of December with myriad emotions competing for supremacy. Apprehension I know is only natural when confronting the unknown, yet by being unperturbed you cannot help but become exhilarated by your own daring. To shun an experience because of fear is a fatal flaw that condemns people to a self-absorbed, banal life of routine. I dispelled my inhibitions and decided to cycle to India.”
Curious Companions serves to be an engaging account of one man’s journey of discovery across diverse cultures and environments. Compassion, humour and a dose of realism combine to create an unforgettable narrative. Thirteen countries, and four exhilarating months on the road are spent dealing with hostility in Austria, romance in Romania, Turkey’s bitter winter, overwhelming hospitality in Iran, and curiosity in Pakistan.
